There is Nothing to Fear But Fear Itself

FDR was correct about the fear thing… “The only thing we have to fear, is Fear itself”

What makes it so potent is that fear is an emotion and a spiritual force. It changes your body chemistry, releasing stress hormones that down regulate your ability to adapt. This weakens your immune response, which is not something anyone wants. Thoughts become things… choose good ones! Here at Simply Chiropractic in South Berwick, Maine, we work to bring beautiful things into our lives: health, joy, positivity, and abundance. Call us to schedule an appointment for an adjustment: (207)200-3113. Read on for tips to stay well and joyful and not give into fear!

Unplug from the media – Don't participate in the fear mongering and the panic production machine. If you need to know something, you'll hear about it. We are in a current deluge of Fear over fact, reason seems to have flown away. We cannot control the content, but we CAN control what resources we use. Social media is in a whipped-up frenzy of misinformation. Before turning on your computer, set your intentions for the day. Choose to make yours the best day possible, and don’t get hooked. If you find yourself slipping, reset your intentions!

Remain optimistic – Your greatest asset is your immune system. You can't afford the luxury of a single negative thought. Laugh. U tube is a great resource to help with this…. Search for ‘positive affirmations’ and have that playing in the background as you are moving through your day. Put on a Dance mix and MOVE! Put your hand on your heart, think of how you feel when you are in a state of appreciate, of gratitude, of Love, and breathe deeply for 5 minutes.

Serve others – Do a good deed, help a neighbor. Be generous. Listen.

Spend time in nature – The birds seem oblivious to current events. Feel the sun on your face, the breeze in your hair, your feet on the ground. Leave your phone behind, and enjoy the freedom and peace of being outside.

Stay present – Don't rush that disaster you've imagined. With so much speculation about current events, there are so many worst-case scenarios that are being entertained. But these are ALL someone else’s thoughts, they do not have to be yours. The future will be here soon enough. When it arrives you'll know what to do.

An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. “A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy.

“It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil – he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.” He continued, “The other is good – he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you – and inside every other person, too.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?”

The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”
